INDIANAPOLIS – On Thursday, February 9, 2023, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Homicide detectives arrested 24-year-old Enrique Hernandez for his alleged role in the recent death of his brother 30-year-old Juan Parada.
On Sunday, February 5, 2023, just after 10:00 a.m., IMPD East District officers responded to the 11000 block of Whistler Drive on a report of a person shot. While officers were enroute, the run was updated to a person stabbed. Officers arrived and located an adult male, later identified as Juan Parada, with injuries consistent with a stab wound(s) inside the residence. Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital in critical condition. Shortly after arriving to the hospital, the victim was pronounced deceased by medical staff.
IMPD homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin their investigation. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to identify and collect potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office assisted and determined the exact manner and cause of death.
IMPD Homicide detectives were able to identify Hernandez as a potential suspect in this case. Yesterday, IMPD East District officers located Hernandez and took him to the IMPD Homicide office for further investigation. Shortly after, Hernandez was arrested by detectives for his alleged role in the stabbing death of Parada.
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case and make a final charging decision.
