Fatal Vehicle Collision - January 31, 2023

Union City, CA – On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, Union City Police Officers responded to the area of Central Avenue and Atlantic Avenue to investigate a major traffic collision. The major traffic collision involved a vehicle and a bicyclist. During the initial investigation, the bicyclist was transported to a local hospital as the bicyclist had suffered major injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene of the collision and has cooperated with the investigation.
Unfortunately, the bicyclist later succumbed to his injuries. The bicyclist has been identified as 69-year-old, Paul Lupe Moreno, of Hayward. The Union City Police Department understands that this is a tragic incident for everyone involved and would like to express our condolences to the families impacted by this incident.
