El Cerrito Police crime blotter Jan 29th - Feb 4th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from January 29th to February 4th 2023.
 
 

January 29TH
Petty Theft-1600 Block of Richmond St.
 
At 9:51 PM, an officer reports two unknown suspects stole the victim’s front license plate from their vehicle.
 
Organized Retail Theft- Ross, 2000 El Cerrito Plaza
 
At 8:49 PM, an officer reports two unknown suspects worked together to steal merchandise ($600).

January 30th
Indecent Exposure – Chevron 11319 San Pablo Ave.
 While the victim was seated in her vehicle at a gas pump, an unknown suspect walked up to her car window and exposed his genitals.

Grand Theft – 10700 block of San Pablo Ave.
The victim’s catalytic converter was stolen on Saturday evening. 

Petty Theft – ECHS 540 Ashbury Ave.
On January 9th to January 10th, while at school, the victim’s laptop was stolen.  
 
January 31st
Carjacking – Macaroni Grill 8000 El Cerrito Plaza (parking lot)
At approximately 8:31am the victim was sitting in his parked vehicle when he was approached by the six suspects.  Three of the suspect punched then pulled the victim out of his car.  All of the suspects got into his vehicle and drove northbound on San Pablo Ave. 

Vandalism – 1700 block of Walnut St.
At approximately 3:43pm, an unknown suspect shattered an exterior window to the residence with a rock.  The residence backs up to Summit K2, and the victim believes a student from the school threw the rock.  
 
February 1st
Grand Theft – 1400 block of Norvell St.
On January 17th, the victim’s Toyota Prius’ catalytic converter was stolen.  

Robbery – Ross 2000 El Cerrito Plaza
At approximately 1:53pm, two suspects stole miscellaneous clothing and walked towards the front doors of the store.  One of the suspects brandished a black handgun that was in his waistband, at Loss Prevention employees who attempted to stop them.  
 
Auto Burglary – 2600 block of Tamalpais Ave.
At approximately 12:03pm, a US post office truck was broken into and mail was stolen.

Auto Burglary – 6700 block of Glen Mawr Ave.
At approximately 12:38pm the suspect broken into the victims vehicle and stole miscellaneous items.  

 Shoplift-CVS, 670 El Cerrito Plaza
At 9:09 pm, an officer reports an unknown suspect exited the store with unpaid lotion/ cosmetics ($150).


February 3rd
Vandalism – 9950 San Pablo Ave:
At 11:06 AM, an unidentified suspect kicked and broke the door to the ATM lobby, causing damage estimated at $1000

Shoplift – 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross):
At 1:40 PM, an unidentified suspect stole seven pairs of shoes worth $200.

Petty Theft – 1700 block of Lexington Ave:
At 2:55 PM, Officer Randhawa reports an unidentified suspect reached in through the open window of the victim’s vehicle and stole a $40 backpack containing immigration documents.

February 4th  
Residential Burglary-2000 Block of Junction Ave.
 
At 6:28 PM, an officer reports unknown suspect(s) shattered the rear sliding glass door of the victim’s residence to gain entry and conducted a ransack of the house. The victim discovered $400 was missing from the master bedroom.
