| On February 10, 2023, West County Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) detectives were conducting directed enforcement on known subjects who are on probation with probation search terms. During this operation, Special Enforcement Unit detectives, contacted Kenneth Wilson and Justin Mattley at the 2500 block of Knoll Drive in Ventura. Detectives learned Mattley is on active probation with narcotics related search terms. Detectives identified two vehicles located at the scene associated to both Mattley and Wilson. Detectives conducted a probation search of Mattley and his vehicle and located a small amount of methamphetamine and fentanyl. During a search of Wilson’s vehicle, detectives located a loaded 9mm “ghost gun”, a bullet proof vest, brass knuckles, 2 ounces of methamphetamine and a lower assault rifle receiver. Wilson is a convicted felon and is prohibited from owning and possessing firearms and ammunition. Detectives arrested Wilson for being in possession of a loaded firearm by a convicted felon, possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of a manufactured firearm not properly registered, possession of an assault weapon, possession of brass knuckles, felon in possession of body armor, possession for sales of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Wilson was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility. Wilson remains in custody on $100,000.00 bail. Wilson’s next court date is scheduled for February 15, 2023. Mattley was cited and released for possession of a controlled substance and a violation of probation. The West County Special Enforcement Unit is comprised of eight detectives, who focus on protecting West County communities by actively investigating illegal firearm activities. The Sheriff’s Office has seen an increase of unlawful firearm activities in Ventura County, including illegal “ghost guns”.
