INCIDENT: CVC 2800.2(a) – Felony Evading, with Wanton Disregard for Safety of Others
PC 466 – Possession of Burglary Tools.
LOCATION: 3rd Street and H Street, Needles, CA
SUSPECT(S): Kim Petit, 38-year-old Male, Resident of Needles, CA
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On February 10, 2023, at approximately 11:18 p.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station / Needles Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop, in the area of 3rd Street and H Street in the city of Needles, for several vehicle code violations. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Kim Petit, attempted to elude deputies by driving erratically and at a high rate of speed. Petit lost control of his vehicle, crashed into a fence, and fled on foot. Petit was found hiding in the brush and was taken into custody without further incident.
Petit was arrested for PC 2800.2 (a) – Felony Evading with disregard for public safety and PC 466, Possession of Burglary Tools. He was transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking. Petit remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department with a bail amount of $150,000.00.
