IMPD Homicide Detectives Arrest Man in Weekend Homicide

INDIANAPOLIS – On Monday, February 13, 2023, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) arrested 29-year-old Terell Williamson for his alleged role in the recent death of 47-year-old John Pollard Jr.
 
On Saturday, February 11, 2023, just after 4:00 p.m., Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) North District officers responded to West 16th Street at N. Capitol Ave. for a report of a pedestrian struck. Officers arrived and located an adult male, later identified as Pollard with injuries consistent with trauma. Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services responded and pronounced Pollard deceased at the scene.
 
The IMPD Fatal Crash investigators responded to the scene.  After preliminary information was obtained at the scene, IMPD homicide detectives responded to continue the investigation. 
 
The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to identify and collect potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will be assisting and will determine the exact manner and cause of death.
 
Preliminary information leads detectives to believe a vehicle which was travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes and intentionally swerved up onto the sidewalk and struck Pollard before returning to the westbound lanes and fleeing the scene.  Detectives continued to follow up on information gathered at the scene.
 
Homicide detectives along with district officers located Williamson.  After further investigation Williamson was arrested.  The Marion County Prosecutors Office will review the case and make a final charging decision.
