Avalanche Danger: Level 3 Considerable (Orange)
 
 
Fire Department Staff has consulted with experts from the Chugach National Forest Avalanche Center. Due to the recent weather events of mixed rain and snow, along with varying temperatures; avalanche conditions are present. There is a considerable risk for human triggered avalanches when recreating. Please use extreme caution when traveling the back country and always travel in pairs. There you will find tutorials on how to recognize signs of avalanches, as well as, tips for best practices when recreating in avalanche prone back country.
