CVC 23152(A): DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS AND ALCOHOL
LOCATION: Bellflower St./ Seneca Rd., Adelanto
SUSPECT: Jaylyne Welch, 20-years-old, resident of Adelanto
SUMMARY:
On Monday, February 13, 2023, at 11:36pm, Deputies K. Russell and S. Gudino-Rivas attempted to stop a gold sedan for failing to stop at the stop sign at Bellflower Street and Seneca Road, in Adelanto.
The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Jaylyne Welch, accelerated the vehicle, and drove northbound on Bellflower Street at approximately 85mph. Welch turned east on Mojave Drive without stopping at the controlled stop sign and continued to drive at a high rate of speed with complete disregard for public safety.
Welch stopped at the intersection of Mojave Drive and Jonathan Street and exited the vehicle. Welch had the odor of alcohol and marijuana emitting from his breath; and was taken into custody without further incident. An open container of alcohol was located inside the vehicle.
Jaylyne Welch is currently being held at High Desert Detention Center in lieu of $110,000 bail.
