ROBBERY SUSPECT ARRESTED
 
On February 13, 2023, at approximately 7:46 p.m., Morgan Hill Police Officers responded to Target, located at 1061 Cochrane Road, to investigate the report of a robbery that had just occurred.  Upon arrival, Officers learned a Target Loss Prevention employee observed a male suspect walk out of the store without paying for several items.  When confronted by the Target Loss Prevention employee, the suspect displayed a handgun and made threatening statements.  The Target Loss Prevention employee immediately disengaged and allowed the suspect to leave the scene. 
 
Morgan Hill Police Officers later identified the suspect as a 16 y/o youth from Morgan Hill.  On February 16, 2023, Morgan Hill Police Officers conducted a vehicle stop on a vehicle which the youth suspect was a passenger in, and he was taken into custody without incident.
 
Morgan Hill Police Detectives later served a search warrant at the youth suspect’s residence where they located several of the stolen items, as well as firearms and narcotics.  The suspect was later transported to Santa Clara Juvenile Hall on charges of P.C. 211 – Robbery; P.C. 25850(c)(4) – Unlawful possession of a firearm; H&S 11350 – Possession of a controlled substance and P.C. 21810 – Possession of brass knuckles.
 
The Morgan Hill Police Department would like to commend the Target Loss Prevention employee for his actions which likely prevented the situation from escalating into a violent confrontation.
