On February 16, 2023, the Newbury Park High School Resource Officer was notified by school staff that there were two social media posts reported to the administration that referenced a threat to the school, racial biases, and sexual misconduct by a student. The School Resource Officer Unit investigated immediately upon their notification by Newbury Park High School Administration. Two students and their parents were contacted. The investigation revealed that all three claims were factually false and there was never a risk to the safety of the school, students, or staff regarding the social media postings.
