IMPD Covert Robbery Detectives Make a Serial Robbery Arrest

INDIANAPOLIS-Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Robbery detectives arrested 20-year-old Alexander Soto and 18-year-old Alan Turcios on Friday, February 17, 2023, following a comprehensive investigation for their alleged roles in a series of armed robberies on the northwest side of Indianapolis. The investigation included personnel from the IMPD Robbery Division, IMPD SWAT, IMPD Aviation Unit, the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, and IMPD Northwest District.

On Friday, February 17, 2023, IMPD covert robbery detectives responded to the 2200 block of White Oaks Drive on a robbery investigation. Detectives arrived and determined an armed robbery had occurred. A good description of the suspect vehicle was given to officers in the area. Subsequently, IMPD Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) officers located the alleged suspect vehicle in the 5600 block of Crawfordsville Road. The driver, later identified as Alex Soto, and the passenger Alan Turcios were quickly taken into custody.
Robbery detectives arrived on the scene and determined these were the suspects from the alleged armed robbery.

Soto and Turcios were charged with numerous offenses, including felony armed robbery. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will determine the final charges. The investigation is still ongoing.

Soto and Alexander are both accused of being involved in a combined four robberies; reference the incidents below:
