On February 21, 2023, at approximately 1:27 p.m., Fremont dispatch received a 9-1-1 call regarding a downed power line in the area of Walnut Ave and Guardino Dr. Officers arrived and located several downed trees in the area that fell onto power lines. Currently, Walnut Ave between Overacker Ave and Gallaudet Dr remains closed. The Walnut Ave area and parts of Mowry Ave from Mission Blvd to the BART tracks are experiencing power outages.
PG&E is on scene and estimated it could take up to 24 hours before power is restored to the entire area. Police and Fire personnel are on the scene to provide assistance. City maintenance is also out to assist with road closures.
Please use caution when driving in the area. When approaching a downed traffic signal, please treat the intersection as a 4-way stop.
