On February 16, 2023, at approximately 4:10 p.m., a passerby contacted Fremont Police Department after witnessing an altercation occur between two men near Stevenson Boulevard and Paseo Padre Parkway. Officers immediately responded, and a witness intervened before officers arrived on the scene. Upon arrival, officers located a male lying on the ground suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts by members of Fremont PD and Fremont Fire, the victim succumbed to his injuries. The forty-eight-year-old male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The suspect, Eddie Moses (40 years old, of Fremont), was located in the area of the homicide by Fremont PD officers and placed under arrest. Fremont Police Department’s Investigations Unit responded and took over the homicide investigation. There were several witnesses to the altercation, and the edged weapon used in the homicide was located and collected.
The case was presented to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Moses was subsequently charged with Penal Code 187(a) – murder, as well as a weapons allegation and sentencing enhancement. Moses remains in custody at Santa Rita Jail.
