The National Weather Service issued two Winter Storm Warnings and a Blizzard Warning for our area. If you are not prepared, please get ready.
A Winter Storm Warning is issued when a significant combination of hazardous winter weather is occurring or imminent. Significant and hazardous winter weather is defined as a combination of:
5 inches or more of snow/sleet within a 12-hour period or 7 inches or more of snow/sleet within a 24-hour period AND/OR
Enough ice accumulation to cause damage to trees or powerlines AND/OR
a life-threatening or damaging combination of snow and/or ice accumulation with wind.
A Blizzard Warning means that the following conditions are occurring or expected within the next 12 to 18 hours.
- Snow and/or blowing snow reducing visibility to 1/4 mile or less for 3 hours or longer AND
- Sustained winds of 35 mph or greater or frequent gusts to 35 mph or greater.

Warning, heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of upto 21 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. For the
Blizzard Warning, blizzard conditions expected. Total snowaccumulations of up to 37 inches. Winds gusting as high as 65mph.
* WHERE...Tehachapi, Grapevine and Frazier Mountain Communities.
* WHEN...For the first Winter Storm Warning, until 11 PM PST Thursday. For the second Winter Storm Warning, from 9 PMFriday to 4 PM PST Saturday. For the Blizzard Warning, from 11PM Thursday to 8 PM PST Friday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Thehazardous conditions could impact the morning or eveningcommute. Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water inyour vehicle in case of an emergency.
Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you musttravel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded,stay with your vehicle.
