Snow Emergency Update. Thurs. and Fri. facility hours and snow removal operation details. 
The City of Springfield has declared a Snow Emergency beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2023:
- City facilities (Library, Community Center, and City Hall) will be closed to the public on Thursday and reopen for normal business hours on Friday.
- Emergency Snow Routes will continue to be maintained as able during the blizzard with emergency vehicles escorted by plows as needed to access other areas.
- Snow Removal Operations - Thursday
- Snow removal will begin on all streets and alleys once the wind speeds reduce (anticipated between 7:30a.m. and 9:00a.m.).
- Downtown will be pushed to one side of the road on Thursday, left overnight.
- Snow Removal Operations - Friday
- Snow removal downtown will resume at 4:00a.m. until cleared.
- Residential streets and misc. piles will be addressed soon after.
- The airport is anticipated to be accessible around 12:00p.m.
- If you do need to leave home:
- Drive slowly to reach your destination.
- Make sure your headlights are on.
- Give other drivers and plow operators extra room.
- Please continue to refrain from parking near snow windrows.
