Special Investigations Unit Conducts “John” Operation on the East Holt Corridor
NARRATIVE:
On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, the Pomona Police Department Special Investigations Unit (SIU), Sexual Exploitation Trafficking Team (SETT), and the Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) conducted an undercover operation targeting sex purchasers and human traffickers. The operation was conducted along East Holt Ave. and Indian Hill Blvd.
During the operation, Pomona Police Officers posed as sex workers and were contacted by sex purchasers. A total of five arrests were made:
- Paul ALBITRE – 76 year old Los Angeles resident / PC 647(B) (Prostitution)
- Richard MEZA – 60 year old Pomona resident / PC 647(B) (Prostitution) 290 Registrant
- Jose CHIRINO – 62 year old San Dimas resident/ PC 647(B) (Prostitution)
- Jose SANDOVALZAMORA – 24 year old Pomona resident / PC 647(B) (Prostitution)
- Alexis BOVAIRD – 21 year old, Riverside resident / 34-221(b)(2) PCC – Public Nudity
The Pomona Police Department takes a proactive approach to combating human trafficking and utilizes the assistance of other agencies to provide a victim-centered approach. In 2022, the Pomona Police Department rescued 11 juvenile victims of human trafficking and several adult victims.
