Two Men Arrested for Breaking into ATMs After Burglary Alarm Sounds at a Bank of America
DATE/TIME: February 18, 2023, at approximately 6:16 p.m.
INCIDENT: Commerical Burglary, Conspiracy, and Vandalism
LOCATION: 6300 Block of Haven Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga
SUSPECT(S): Chanda El, 39-year-old Male Resident of San Bernardino and David Tieu, 40-year-old Male Resident of Milpitas
VICTIM(S): Bank of America
SUMMARY: On Saturday, February 18, 2023, at approximately 6:16 p.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Station were dispatched to an audible burglary alarm at a set of Bank of America ATMs, located in the 6300 block of Haven Avenue. During their investigation, deputies discovered the suspects gained entry into the ATM building.
Deputies determined the suspects disabled security systems and stole U.S. currency from inside the ATM machines. Deputies, with the assistance of the Upland Police Department, entered the building and took custody of the suspects, Chanda El and David Tieu, who were in possession of approximately $50,000.
Deputies arrested El and Tieu and booked them in at the West Valley Detention Center for commercial burglary, conspiracy, and vandalism.
