The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of February 12, 2023 – February 18, 2023.        
 
February 12, 2023

February 13, 2023
  • Grand Theft:
2144 Buena Vista Street (City of Hope). On February 13, 2023 between 7:10 AM and 6:25 PM, suspect(s) unknown stole the victim’s catalytic converter to his vehicle, a red 2004 Toyota Sequoia. The loss was approximately $1,700.

February 14, 2023
  • Grand Theft Auto:
2034 Mountain Avenue. Between February 13, 2023 3:00 PM, and February 14, 2023 6:30 AM suspect(s) unknown stole the victim's parked vehicle, a white 2015 Kia Optima LIC 7GMN315. No surveillance video is available.

February 17, 2023
  • Grand Theft:
1450 Mountain Avenue (Harbor Freight). On February 17, 2023 at 1:25 PM, employees observed two suspect(s) unknown, a male adult wearing a gray “LA” Baseball hat, white shirt, and black pants, and a female wearing all black with long wavy black hair entered the location and went directly to the generator section. The suspects selected a “Predator” 2000-watt generator and exited the location without attempting to pay for the item. The employees observed the suspects flee the location in a gray Pontiac Firebird with a license plate of 2EBR464. The loss was approximately $570.  Surveillance video is available.

CRIME PREVENTION TIPS FOR SENIORS
Walking:
  • If you are a victim of a crime during your walk, make as much noise as possible by calling for help or blowing a whistle. Do not pursue your attacker. Call 911 and report the crime as soon as possible.
  • Avoid walking alone at night. Try to have a friend accompany you in a high-risk area, even during the daytime.
  • Always plan your route and stay alert to your surroundings. Walk confidently.
  • Have a companion accompany you.
  • Walk in well-lighted areas.
  • Have your key ready when approaching your front door.
  • Only carry what you need during your walks, don’t carry large, bulky shoulder bags or a purse.  Make sure to carry a cell phone.
