City of Grosse Pointe Farms Power Outage Update (02/24/2023)
Please read the latest City update regarding the ongoing power outage:
Power Outage in Grosse Pointe Farms Warming Center at Pier Park Community Building |
|
Many residents in Grosse Pointe Farms continue to experience power outages and their homes remain unheated. Pier Park Warming Center The Pier Park Community Building will be open until 9:00 p.m. today, February 24, 2023 to serve as a warming center. Residents can go there to warm-up, hang out and charge their electronics. Tables and chairs are setup in the building's Great Room near power outlets. Winter Weather Emergency Preparedness The Michigan State Police has a webpage dedicated to Winter Weather Emergency Preparedness. They recommend never using a generator, camp stove, charcoal grill, or gasoline or propane heater indoors, as these items can start accidental fires, cause electric shock, and/or cause deadly carbon monoxide poisoning. Additionally, they recommend never using an oven or stove-top to heat your home because it can also cause deadly carbon monoxide poisoning. Preventing Frozen Water Pipes at Homes without Power While temperatures are below freezing, the City is recommending that effected residents keep faucets slowly dripping and the cabinet doors under the sink open. This can help to prevent water pipes from freezing and bursting. DTE Power Outage Center Residents or business owners can report a power outage or downed power line at dteenergy.com/outage or 800-477-4747. |
