Winter Weather Advisory

The Carlstadt Office of Emergency Management is currently monitoring the situation with the coming winter storm. The National Weather Service has issued the following Winter Weather Advisory:

346 AM EST Mon Feb 27 2023

Affected Area
Eastern Bergen-Western Essex-Western Union-Southern Westchester

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING
TO 1 PM EST TUESDAY

WHAT...Snow, sleet and rain expected. Total snow and
accumulations of 3 to 5 inches expected, with locally up to 6
  inches possible.

* WHERE...In New Jersey, Eastern Bergen, Western Essex and
Western Union Counties. In New York, Southern Westchester
  County.

* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 1 PM EST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous
conditions could impact the morning or evening commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Slow down and use caution while traveling.

Check local Department of Transportation information services for
the latest road conditions.

As a reminder if roads are snow covered there is no parking on Garden Street, Jefferson Street, Seventh Street, Division Avenue and Summit Avenue. Please remove cars from the appropriate side of the street to allow for cleaning and emergency vehicles to pass.

We also ask that you please follow alternate side of the street parking rules to aid in clearing the streets.

We are asking that if you have a driveway, or access to off street parking, that you please use it. The fewer vehicles on the street, the easier it will be for the Public Works Department to clear the streets.

Also, it is against Borough Ordinance to throw snow into the street when clearing your car or property. Sidewalks must be cleared within 12 hours of the end of the snow fall.

Unless you have to travel, please stay off the roads. Crews will need extra time to make the secondary roads passable.

SPECIAL NOTE: THE SENIOR BUS MAY BE CANCELLED DUE TO THE WEATHER. A DETERMINATION WILL BE MADE ON TUESDAY MORNING.

Yours in Preparedness,
Carlstadt Office of Emergency Management
