State of Emergency declared; Water distribution locations announced; Street cleaning cancelled 
The Office of Emergency Management has issued a State of Emergency due to the water main break at Observer Highway and Madison Street which has caused low to no water pressure in some areas.
As per the New Jersey Department of Health, all establishments, including all gyms, restaurants, bars, and hair and nail salons, without running water must close until water is restored. All establishments with running water including supermarkets, pharmacies, and entities selling water can remain open.
The State of Emergency will remain in place until water is restored and the order is lifted by the Office of Emergency Management.
Repairs are ongoing and expected to continue overnight. As such, residents should be prepared to have their service impacted overnight into early tomorrow morning.
The Office of Emergency Management advises all drivers to enter and exit the city from northern routes.
Water available at 4:30 p.m.
The Office of Emergency Management and Veolia will make drinking water available at 7 locations starting at 4:30 p.m. Residents must bring their own containers to fill.
The water will be located at the following locations:
- Hoboken University Medical Center, 308 Willow Ave.
- 220 Adams St.
- 221 Jackson St.
- Fox Hills, 311 13th St.
- Fourth and Harrison Streets
- Columbian Towers, 76 Bloomfield St.
- Stevens' Wesley Howe Center, 1 Castlepoint Terrace.
Snow predicted overnight
As a reminder, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Hoboken due to predicted snowfall of 3-5”. The advisory is in effect from 6 P.M. tonight, Monday, February 27, through 1 P.M. Tuesday, February 28. The snow is expected to turn to rain early Tuesday morning, with rain anticipated to end around 2 P.M.
Street cleaning is cancelled tomorrow due to the storm.
Keep Sidewalks and Curb Ramps Clear
The City's Department of Environmental Services will salt and plow streets as needed. Property owners and occupants are reminded that they are responsible to remove snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their property, along with adjoining curb ramps or curb cuts, within six (6) hours after the completion of a storm.
Residents are urged to assist elderly or disabled neighbors with clearing snow from their properties.
It is illegal to shovel snow back onto streets or onto fire hydrants.
The City performs proactive inspections and relies on citizen complaints to help identify property owners that are not meeting sidewalk safety requirements. While the majority of property owners comply with the safety regulations, the City will issue fines to those who do not keep sidewalks clear.
