INCIDENT: Penal Code 245-Assault with a Deadly Weapon / California State Parole No Bail Warrant
LOCATION: 4000 Block of Avenida La Candela, Joshua Tree
SUSPECT(S): Steve Alexander Mixco, 36-year-old resident of Joshua Tree
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at approximately 6:20 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 4000 Block of Avenida La Candela in Joshua Tree. A citizen reported seeing a wanted person, Steve Alexander Mixco, on the property. Mixco was wanted for assault with a deadly weapon from a previous case occurring on January 31, 2023, and a No Bail Warrant was issued by California State Parole. Mixco was considered armed and dangerous.
Deputies arrived at the location and surrounded the property. Several occupants living in detached trailers on the property were contacted and evacuated. Deputies remained focused on the primary home and made several public announcements for all occupants to exit. After several minutes, three occupants exited the primary house, including Mixco. Mixco was detained while deputies continued the investigation.
Steve Alexander Mixco was arrested and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail. Mixco is being held without bail.
