Subject: West High School – Threatening Note
On Tuesday, February 28th, at approximately 12:53pm, the Sun Prairie Police Department was alerted to a note that was found on school grounds. The note indicated violence would be perpetrated on Friday of this week at Sun Prairie West High School. The note was turned over to school staff who alerted the School Resource Officer. An investigation was commenced, and the author of the note was identified. The student and his parents have been cooperative with the investigation. The 15-year-old male was referred to the Dane County District Attorney’s Office on a charge of Terroristic Threats. Police presence will be provided for the remainder of this week. The Sun Prairie Police Department does not believe there is any on-going threat to the school.
Pursuant to the directive of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicity, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation, and that defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
