DETAILS: On March 1st, 2023 at approximately 13:55 hrs, Officers were dispatched to a vehicle vs pedestrian crash at SE 10th and Manhattan. A white Ford Pickup driven by a male, age 29, had been traveling North bound on Manhattan, stopped at SE 10th and turned East bound on to SE 10th. The pedestrian Melanie Yazbek, female age 57,birthday 12/7/65, was walking across SE 10th North bound in the crosswalk when she was struck by the pickup. Ms. Yazbek died at the scene as result of injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the truck was not injured. Next of kin and Justice of the Peace Gary Jackson were notified. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Unit of the Amarillo Police Department.
