Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé requests the public’s help in identifying the below pictured male suspect in connection with a shoplifting incident that occurred on Wednesday, February 22, 2023.
 
At just after 7:10 p.m., Police responded to Walgreens, located at 561 Irvington Avenue, on a call of shoplifting. Employees reported that the suspect entered the store, removed a black plastic garbage bag from his backpack, and filled it with items from the childcare aisle. The suspect then fled the store with the items inside the trash bag.
 
The suspect is described as Black, in his early twenties, approximately 5’11” tall, and weighing 200-plus pounds. He was wearing a blue face mask, with a black hooded jacket and black sweatpants.
 
Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the identity of this suspect to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
