Chino Hills Man Arrested After Investigators Find Numerous Unserialized Guns in His Residence



DATE/TIME: March 2, 2023 / 8:00 a.m.

INCIDENT: PC 29800 (A)(1) - Felon in Possession of a Firearm; PC 12022.1(B) - Commit Crime on Bail; HS 11370.1(A) - Possession of Controlled Substance While Armed; PC 530.5 - Identity Theft; and PC 498(B)(1) - Theft of Utility Services.    

LOCATION: 16200 Block of Bainbridge Way, Chino Hills, CA 91762 

SUSPECT(S): Sollomon Kim, 36-year-old Male Resident of Chino Hills

VICTIM(S): People of the State of California


SUMMARY: On March 2, 2023, at about 8:00 a.m., deputies from the Multiple Enforcement Team and detectives from the Chino Hills Police Station served a search warrant at the Chino Hills residence of Sollomon Kim, a 36-year-old convicted felon.

On November 8, 2022, Kim was arrested for possessing and manufacturing unserialized firearms in violation of PC 29800 - Felon in Possession of Firearms. The warrant was related to new information received by investigators, indicating Kim continued to manufacture firearms and purchased firearm components using stolen identities.

During the search, investigators seized five unserialized handguns, two unserialized AR-15 rifles, over 1,000 rounds of ammunition, high-capacity magazines, firearm silencer, suspected methamphetamine, stolen identification cards, and several firearm components used to manufacture AR-15 rifles and semi-automatic pistols.  Additionally, Kim was found to have stolen electrical utilities from Southern California Edison by connecting an illegal power supply line to his home.

Kim was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for PC 29800 (A)(1) - Felon in Possession of a Firearm, PC 12022.1(B) - Commit Crime on Bail,  HS 11370.1(A) - Possession of Controlled Substance While Armed, PC 530.5 - Identity Theft, and PC 498(B)(1) - Theft of Utility Services.
