SMPD Arrests Trio for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Criminal Threats and Conspiracy
San Mateo, CA - On Thursday, March 2, 2023, at approximately 2:49 p.m., SMPD officers were dispatched to the unit block of West Hillsdale Boulevard on the report of a stabbing. Officers quickly arrived on the scene and located a male victim in the parking lot. The victim had not been stabbed and did not require any medical assistance. Officers learned a suspect, later identified as Anderson Lopez Guzman, and a friend of the victim were involved in a physical fight on Edison Street. When the victim attempted to stop the fight, Guzman brandished a knife. Guzman motioned he would stab the victim and threatened to kill the victim. When the victim fled, two additional suspects, later identified as Andy Perez Juarez and Christian Lima, began chasing the victim. Juarez armed himself with a knife during the chase. The victim managed to elude the suspects. He observed all three enter a vehicle and flee the immediate area.
While SMPD continued the on-scene investigation, Guzman returned to the scene. Officers detained Guzman. After officers located a knife matching a description of the knife provided by the victim and the victim identified Guzman as one of the suspects, officers arrested Guzman.
SMPD officers located the unoccupied suspect vehicle near the scene. Shortly after locating the vehicle, officers observed Juarez and Lima return the vehicle. Officers detained both Juarez and Lima. After officers conducted an infield line-up, Lima and Juarez were identified as the two outstanding suspects. Officers arrested both Juarez and Lima and transported all three suspects to the San Mateo County Jail. They were booked for assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, and conspiracy.

Charges: Assault with a deadly weapon (245(A)(1) PC) and conspiracy (182(A)(1) PC)
