El Cerrito Police Department blotter from February 19th - 25th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from February 19th to February 25th, 2023.

February 19th
Armed Robbery- 7022 Stockton Ave. (7-Eleven):
At 9:17 PM, an officer reported a suspect brandished a firearm at the clerk and demanded money. The suspect fled the business with cash and merchandise.

February 20th
Robbery (Armed – Handgun) – 11299 San Pablo Ave (Gina Beauty 4 U):
At 11:30 AM, an officer reports the suspect entered the store with her face concealed and robbed the cashier at gunpoint.  The wig she was wearing when she arrived was left in the parking lot in her haste to leave, and was collected for DNA evidence.
The suspect vehicle turned up at Casino San Pablo later in the day, and at 3:35 PM, San Pablo PD detained a woman who closely matched the suspect description, and appeared to be wearing the wig that was stolen in the robbery.  The woman was booked and transported to the county jail.

Carjacked Vehicle (Recovered) – 11700 block of San Pablo Ave: At 1:05 PM, an officer recovered a silver 2000 Toyota Solara reported stolen to the Antioch Police Department on 2/10/2023 in an armed carjacking.  The vehicle was abandoned in the rear parking lot of the apartment complex.

Commercial Burglary-6120 Potrero Ave. (Los Moles):
At 4:22 AM, an officer reports an unknown suspect used a rock to break a window to gain entry into business and stole property.

February 21st
Commercial Burglary –10180 San Pablo Avenue (Super Slice Pizza)
An unknown suspect threw a small concrete paver through the front glass door to gain entry into the business.  The suspect rummaged through the store, but nothing was stolen.  The incident occurred from February 20th at 9:15 PM to February 21st at 9:15 AM.  

Vandalism –6500 Fairmount Avenue (El Cerrito Health and Rehab)
In the early mornings on February 17th an unknown suspect shattered a small window to the building.

Vandalism – 11481 San Pablo Ave (NEK Insurance)
At 2118 hours, an unknown suspect shattered a glass door to the business causing $1000.00 worth of damage.
 
February 22nd
Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave at Central Ave. 
At approximately 6:58 AM officers arrested a subject for a warrant out of the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office.  The male was booked at El Cerrito PD, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.   

Petty Theft – 5300 block of School St.
At 12:16 PM a suspect stole a package from the victim’s porch. 
 
Shoplifting – 11545 San Pablo Ave (Ross)
At 2203 hours, the suspect entered the business and stole approximately $100 worth of cologne and fled the business on foot.
 
February 23rd
Vandalism – 7200 block of Blake St.
The suspect shattered the victim’s front driver side window, placed the victim’s garden hose in the car, filling the interior with water.  The incident occurred from 4:00 AM to 7:40 AM on the 23rd .

Evading Police Officers – 1200 block of Everett St.
At approximately 10:39 AM officers were dispatched to suspicious vehicle parked in the area.  When officers contacted the driver, they learned the vehicle was reported stolen to the Richmond Police Department.  The driver fled from officers and led them on a vehicle pursuit.  The suspect vehicle was last seen traveling into the City of Richmond, where officers terminated their pursuit.   

Auto Burglary – Parking lot of Lucky 1000 El Cerrito Plaza
On Feb 22nd between 12:45 AM and 9:00 AM, the passenger side window to the victim’s vehicle was shattered and property was stolen.

February 24st
Auto Burglary-Shevlin Dr/ Terrace Dr.
 
At 6:45 PM, an officer reports unknown suspect(s) attempted to steal the victim’s vehicle. Unable to steal the vehicle, the suspect(s) stole several items. The theft occurred on 2/23/2023, between 12:30 AM and 12:00 PM. 
 
Shoplift- 225 El Cerrito Plaza (Trader Joe’s)
 
At 8:43 PM, employees called and advised the suspects had just stolen merchandise and were trying to enter their locked vehicle parked in the parking lot. Officers responded to the scene and located the vehicle, but the suspects had fled prior to their arrival.  At 9:24 PM, employees called back and advised the suspects had returned to their car. An officer arrived on scene and noticed the suspects driving away. The officer located the vehicle parked in a driveway several blocks away and detained the driver. The passenger fled on foot. The driver was positively identified by store employees as the person responsible for the theft and placed under Citizen’s Arrest. The suspect was transported to the ECPD for booking. After booking, he was released on a citation. 
 
Vandalism- 2000 El Cerrito Plaza (Ross)
 
At 10:38 PM, an officer reports two suspects were asked to leave by employees after they attempted to steal merchandise. As they were exiting the store, one of the suspects knocked over a display of picture frames causing damage. The suspects fled prior to officers’ arrival.
 
Burglary- 10636 San Pablo Ave. (24 Hour Fitness)
 
An officer reports, at 9:00 PM, the victim placed his property in one of the lockers in the men’s locker room and secured it. The victim returned to the locker at 11:00 PM, and discovered his lock and property were missing. 
 
February 25th
Trespassing, Vandalism – 1300 block of Liberty Street:
At 3:00 PM Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Liberty Street, for the report of trespassing.  A subject had worn out his welcome during a party at an apartment.  The person was under the influence of alcohol and was convinced to leave with a friend.  The victim went for a walk and returned at 4:40 PM. The suspect decided to return to the apartment and took a shower and refused to leave and was taken into custody.  Further investigation revealed the suspect vandalized some property causing over $2000.00 worth of damage. The subject was placed under arrest, booked at El Cerrito PD, and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
