INCIDENT: Major Injury Traffic Collision Resulting in Death
LOCATION: Twentynine Palms Highway (SR-62) & Fiesta Road, Twentynine Palms
SUSPECT(S): N/A
VICTIM(S): 61-year-old Male Resident of Twentynine Palms
SUMMARY: On Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 1:48 a.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Station were dispatched to a single vehicle, unknown injury traffic collision, located at Twentynine Palms Highway (SR-62) and Fiesta Road, in the City of Twentynine Palms.
Deputies arrived at the location and found a Nissan Murano rolled over on it's side. During the investigation, deputies learned the driver of the Nissan drove eastbound on SR-62 and veered off the road. The vehicle hit a dirt burm and rolled over, ejecting the driver from the driver's seat to the rear of the vehicle. The driver sustained fatal injuries and succumbed to those injuries at the scene. The reason for the collision remains unknown, but drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor at this time.
The number two eastbound lane of SR-62 was closed for several hours while deputies conducted their investigation.
