IMPD Homicide Detectives Make Quick Arrest in Sunday Morning Homicide Investigation

INDIANAPOLIS-Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) arrested 58-year-old Jerome Booth for his alleged involvement in a recent homicide.

On Sunday, March 5, 2023, just before 3:00 am, IMPD Southwest District officers responded to the 3700 block of Washington Street on a report of a person shot. Officers arrived and located an adult male with injuries consistent with gunshot wound(s). Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) arrived and transported that individual to an area hospital in stable condition. Subsequently, officers learned of a second person shot in the 3700 block of Rockville Road. Officers arrived and located a male with injuries consistent of a gunshot wound(s) inside of a vehicle. That male was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.

IMPD homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin the investigation. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to identify and collect potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner’s Officer (MCCO) will release the decedent's names once a proper next-of-kin notification has been made.

Subsequently, homicide detectives detained Booth at the scene. After further investigation, Jerome Booth was arrested for murder.

The Marion County Prosecutors Office will review the case and make a final charging decision.
