INCIDENT: Traffic Collision Resulting in Major Injury
LOCATION: Adobe Road and Cactus Drive, Twentynine Palms

VICTIM(S): 21-year-old Male Resident of Twentynine Palms
SUMMARY: On Sunday, March 5, 2023, at 5:41 a.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Station were dispatched to a single vehicle, unknown injury traffic collision near the intersection of Adobe Road and Cactus Drive, in Twentynine Palms. Deputies arrived at the location and found a Toyota Camry crashed into a vacant structure. The 21-year-old male driver and sole occupant was found unconcious inside the vehicle. Deputies gained access to the vehicle, which allowed Morongo Basin Ambulance to assess and triage the driver.
During the investigation, deputies learned the driver of the Toyota drove eastbound on Cactus Drive, through a T-Intersection, off the road, and crashed into a vacant building. The impact of the collision ejected the driver from the driver's seat to the front passenger seat. The driver of the Toyota sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center. The reason for the collision remains unknown, but alcohol is believed to be a factor at this time. The driver's current condition is unknown.
