INCIDENT TYPE: Aggravated Assault w/Deadly weapon

DETAILS: On Monday, March 6, 2023, at 2:01pm, officers were sent to the area of NE 24th and N. Arthur on multiple shots being fired. We received several calls from different callers, all stating there were numerous shots fired. During this time, we were told that a student on the tennis courts at Palo Duro High School had been shot in the hand, from a stray bullet from this incident. Both PDHS and Hamlet Elementary went into lockdown for the safety of their students. There was no indication that this incident involved any students nor was there any information that any incident occurred at either of the schools. The student at PD was taken to an area hospital to be checked out, but his injury was non-life threatening. The violent crimes unit and CSI is on scene and the investigation is ongoing. We do not have any suspects in custody currently. Both schools were updated from Secure status and released.
