INCIDENT: Evading a Peace Officer with a Disregard for Safety, Carrying a Loaded Handgun: Not the Owner
LOCATION: Starshine Drive and Black Hills Road, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): Rodolfo Rodriguez, 21-Year-Old Resident of Victorville
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Friday, March 3, 2023, at approximately 11:21 a.m., while conducting proactive, patrol Deputy Salas from the Victorville Police Department observed a silver Honda Accord fail to stop at the stop sign at Starshine Drive and Black Hills Road. Salas attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle but the driver, later identified as Rodolfo Rodriguez, failed to yield and led deputies on a pursuit. During the pursuit, Rodriguez drove at unsafe speeds through residential neighborhoods and failed to stop at stop signs. After approximately three miles, the pursuit ended on El Dorado Place when Rodriguez parked the vehicle and fled on foot, but was quickly apprehended by assisting Deputy Grigsby.
Rodriguez was arrested for felony evading a peace officer with a disregard for safety. During the investigation, a handgun was located in the area of the pursuit. Rodriguez was booked into custody on felony evading a peace officer with a disregard for safety, and felony carrying a loaded handgun: not the owner. Currently, he is still in custody with bail set at $100,000.
