On Saturday, April 29, 2023, the annual Turtle Crawl races will be held on Jekyll Island to kick off sea turtle nesting season in Georgia.
Turtle Crawl will take place near Beach Village and along Beachview Drive from approximately 6:55 a.m. to 11 a.m. with intermittent road closures for each race. Ocean Way in the Beach Village will be closed from 5:00 am – 10:00 am.
The 5K and 10K races will take place via Beachview Drive and the oceanfront bike path parallel to the road. The northbound lane of BeachviewDrive and the parallel oceanfront bike path will be closed to traffic. Shell Road to Captain Wylly will be closed from approximately 6:55 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
The 1K Fun Run will take place along Ocean Way through to Beachview Drive and along the bike path at Corsair Beach Park, ending in the Beach Village. The northbound lane of Beachview Drive between Ocean Way and the bike path north of the Days Inn will be closed from approximately 9:40 to 9:55 a.m.
Be advised that there will be brief traffic delays and road congestion throughout the island, as the races occur. Please plan your travels ahead of time and use caution.
