Crime Blotter for the Week of February 26 - March 4, 2023

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of February 26 - March 4, 2023:       
  
February 26, 2023

  • Robbery (Attempt):
1114 Huntington Drive. On February 26, 2023 at 12 AM, suspect unknown male Hispanic adult wearing a hat attempted to enter the victim’s vehicle by pulling on the door handle. After a brief conversation with the suspect, the victim heard his rear window shatter. The suspect fled the area. Damage was approximately $300. No surveillance video available.      
 
February 27, 2023
  • No significant activity.
February 28, 2023
  • Petty Theft:
2100 Block of Maynard Drive. On February 28, 2023 at 7 PM, suspect(s) unknown entered the victims 2017 grey Hyundai Tucson and stole her fanny pack and its contents from the front seat. Loss was approximately $200. No surveillance video available.      
 
March 1, 2023
  • Aggravated Assault:
1235 Highland Avenue. On March 1, 2023 at 6:30 PM, the victim was exiting the location, when she observed the suspect and his girlfriend looking at her. The victim drove over to them and asked what they were looking at. The suspect became angry and stated, “This is my hood” and that he was from “Du-Rock” and began to kick and punch the victim. The suspect asked his girlfriend to get his gun and stated he was going to kill the victim. The suspect and his girlfriend fled in a white Honda Accord.  No video surveillance available.    
  • Grand Theft:
2300 Block of Maynard Drive. On March 1, 2023 between 12 AM and 12 PM, suspect(s) unknown entered the victims 2018 blue Honda Accord and stole his “Versace” men’s bag containing U.S. currency and his military identification from the trunk. Loss was approximately $3,500.  No surveillance video available.      

 March 2, 2023
  • Grand Theft:
1600 Block of Bradbury Avenue. Between March 1, 2023, 12 AM and March 2, 2023, 12:50 PM, suspect(s) unknown stole the victim’s catalytic converter to his vehicle a black 2007 Lexus 350. Loss was approximately $2,000.
  • Grand Theft Auto:
920 Block of Mount Olive Drive. Between March 1, 2023, 9 PM and March 2, 2023, 7 AM, suspect(s) unknown stole the victim’s vehicle a brown 1993 Honda Accord. No surveillance video available.

  • Use Strong Passwords- Use different user ID/password combinations for other accounts and avoid writing them down.  Make the passwords more complicated by combining letters, numbers, special characters (minimum of 10 characters in total) and changing them regularly.
  • Secure Your Computer- Activate your firewall, firewalls are the first line of cyber defense; they block connections to unknown or bogus sites and keep out some types of viruses and hackers.
  • Use anti-virus/malware software- Prevent viruses from infecting your computer by installing and regularly updating anti-virus software.
  • Block spyware attacks- Prevent spyware from infiltrating your computer by installing and updating anti-spyware software.
  • Be Social-Media Savvy- Make sure your social networking profiles (E.G. Facebook, Twitter) are set to private.  Be careful about what information you post online.
