* WHAT...Heavy snow expected above 6500 feet. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 2 feet with the highest amounts above 7500 feet. Winds gusting as high as 80 mph.
* WHERE...Ruby Mountains and East Humboldt Range.
* WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 10 PM PST Friday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow levels will rise rapidly tonight into Friday above 7500 feet before falling again Friday night to below 5000 feet. Expect a strong vertical gradient of snow amounts Friday with increasingly higher snow amounts at higher elevations in the 6500-7500 feet zone.
* AFFECTED AREAS: RUBY MOUNTAINS AND EAST HUMBOLDT RANGE
