Deputies Investigate Freight Container Burglary in Goffs
DATE/TIME: March 8, 2023, at approximately 2:09 p.m.
INCIDENT: Burglary of Freight Container
LOCATION: US Highway 95 / Interstate 40, Goffs
SUSPECT(S): Cristobal Quintero Cano, 36-year-old resident of King City
VICTIM(S): BNSF Railroad
SUMMARY: On Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at approximatley 2:09 p.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station responded to the report of a train burglary near the town of Goffs. The suspects fled the area in a Chevy Avalanche and a Chevy Suburban.
The Avalanche was located a short time later and a traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle. While the driver of the vehicle was being detained, a passenger in the vehicle moved to the driver seat and fled in the vehicle.
The vehicle was found a short time later parked on a dirt road with no occupants inside. Fictitious California temporary license plates were found inside the vehicle. The driver of the Avalanche, Cristobal Quintero Cano, was subsequently arrested for PC458-Burglary of Freight Container. Quintero Cano was transported to the Colorado River Station Jail for booking. He remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department with bail set at $30,000.
