Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of February 27-March 5, 2023
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Robberies
There was one robbery during the past week.
On Friday, 03-03-23, at approximately 9:30 p.m., on the 500 block of Templeton Avenue, a suspect pushed a victim into a wall and took her purse. The victim said the incident occurred so fast that she could only describe the suspect as 6” tall.
Residential Burglaries
There were no residential burglaries during the past week.
Commercial Burglaries
There were two commercial burglaries during the past week.
On Monday, 02-27-23, at approximately 3:42 a.m., Nick the Greek was the victim of a commercial burglary when two suspects stole a safe containing approximately $2,000. The business owners described the first suspect as a light-complected bald Asian male, approximately 5’8” tall, weighing 160 pounds, and wearing a white hoodie, blue peacoat, stone-washed light blue jeans, and colorful tennis shoes. The second suspect was described as a medium-complected Asian male, approximately 5’8” tall, weighing 185 pounds, and wearing a blue disposable face mask, red sweater, red hat, dark blue jeans, and grey shoes. The suspects fled in a Hyundai Veloster. This investigation is continuing.
On Monday, 02-27-23, between 6:20 p.m. and 7:15 p.m., an unknown suspect broke into a locker in the women’s locker room at the 24-Hour Fitness facility. The suspect stole a purse containing a CA ID card and credit cards. The suspect made multiple $15 charges with the victim’s credit card at CVS. **Online report.
Vehicle Burglaries
There were eight vehicle burglaries during the past week.
- 100 block of School Street—a backpack containing a laptop, iPad, necklace, and $500 was taken from a 2022 Acura RDX. The rear passenger window was smashed. Occurred between 7:30 p.m. on 02-27-23 and 10:00 a.m. on 02-28-23. **Online report.
- 400 block of Eastmoor Avenue—nothing was taken from a 2016 Lexus CT200H. The passenger window was smashed. Occurred on 02-28-23 between 4:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. **Online report.
- 200 block of Saint Francis Boulevard—a coin purse was taken from a 2015 Hyundai Elantra. Unknown method of entry. The victim discovered the vehicle was burglarized on 03-01-23 at 7:00 a.m. **Online report.
- 100 block of Crestwood Drive—hood vents were taken from a 2011 Ford Mustang. The front windshield, passenger door window, and passenger side quarter panel window were smashed. Occurred on 03-02-23 between 12:35 a.m. and 7:40 a.m.
- 6200 block of Mission Street—nothing was taken from a 2010 Mazda 5. The rear driver’s side window was shattered. Occurred on 03-02-23 at approximately 5:20 p.m.
- Parking garage on the 1800 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard—laptop was taken from a 2013 BMW X5. The rear driver’s side window was shattered. Occurred on 03-05-23 between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
- Parking garage on the 1800 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard—layover bag, backpack, carry-on suitcase, medication, supplements, headphones, iPhone charger, clothing, shoes, uniform, ID, work badge, passport, and social security card were taken from a Hyundai Sonata. The passenger window was shattered. Occurred on 03-05-23 between 7:20 p.m. and 10:08 p.m.
Stolen Vehicles
There were five stolen vehicles during the past week. Three vehicles were recovered.
- Unit block of Muirwood Drive—a 2014 Kia Rio. Occurred on 02-27-23 between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
- Unit block of Forest Grove Drive—a 2020 Kia Soul. Occurred between 7:45 p.m. on 02-27-23 and 7:52 a.m. on 03-06-23.
- Hanover Street and Crocker Avenue—a 2011 Kia Optima. Occurred on 02-28-23 between 8:00 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. **Recovered by SFPD on 03-01-23.
- Unit block of Poncetta Drive—a 2020 Kia Soul. Occurred between 4:00 p.m. on 03-03-23 and 12:30 p.m. on 03-04-23. **Recovered by SFPD on 03-05-23.
- 300 block of Hillside Boulevard—a 2019 Ford Explorer. Occurred between 8:30 p.m. on 03-05-23 and 6:30 a.m. on 03-06-23. **Recovered by SFPD on 03-06-23.
Miscellaneous
- There were 136 cases taken.
- There were 8 domestic disturbance cases reported.
- There were 3 cases involving an involuntary psychiatric hold.
- There were 10 malicious mischief/vandalism cases reported.
- There were 0 cases for public intoxication.
- There were 4 hit-and-run collisions reported.
- There were 3 narcotics-related cases taken.
Community Events/Information
Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Event—Saturday, March 11, 2023
San Mateo County residents can safely dispose of household hazardous waste (HHW) free of charge on Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 8:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. by appointment only. Residents are required to schedule an appointment at San Mateo County’s HHW program online at www.smchealth.org/hhw or by phone at (650) 372-6200. You will be given the drop-off location after you make your appointment. The limit is 10 gallons (liquid) or 50 pounds (solid) per appointment (per carload). Each appointment requires a separate vehicle load. No commercial waste is allowed. Accepted items include cleaning products, fertilizers and garden chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, rodenticides, solvents, flammable liquids, fluorescent lights (compact and tubes), paint thinner, acids/bases, aerosol cans, automotive supplies (car batteries, motor oil, oil filters, antifreeze, brake fluid), inks, and photo chemicals. All waste collected is reused, recycled, or stabilized for proper disposal to achieve zero waste and prevent any items from going to the landfill and contaminating our water and soil. No electronic, radioactive, explosive, or medical waste is accepted.
Free Compost Giveaway, April 27 & 28, 2023, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 153 Lake Merced Boulevard, Daly City
The City of Daly City is partnering with its waste hauler, Republic Services, to host a free compost giveaway. Compost will be available on a first-come, first-served basis (04/27/23 & 04/28/23, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.), while supplies last. This event will be held at the Department of Water & Wastewater Resources located at 153 Lake Merced Boulevard, Daly City, CA 94015. To participate in the compost giveaway, please bring a sturdy container, shovels, and gloves for this self-serve event. Residents must show proof of residency and are limited to 0.5 cubic yards of compost (equivalent to a 96-gallon cart) per household. Please visit www.dalycity.org for more information.
Earth Day Event—Saturday, May 6, 2023, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 333 90th Street, Daly City
On Saturday, May 6, 2023, between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., the City will host this event at the City Hall parking lot, which features FREE services in a drive-through format for Daly City residents. There will be secure document shredding, electronic waste collection, mattress recycling (cannot be severely damaged or soiled), and a used tire take back. No household hazardous waste (paint, pesticides, chemicals, and other toxic products) will be collected. Proof of residency is required to drop off items for disposal (driver’s license and/or recent utility bill). Remain in your vehicle until directed by event staff.
