Incident: Attempted Carjacking and Felony Vandalism

Charges: Attempted Carjacking (664/215(a) PC) and Vandalism (594(B)(1) PC)
On Tuesday March 7, 2023, at approximately 11:11 p.m., Petaluma Patrol Officers were dispatched to an attempted carjacking in the 100 block of N. McDowell Blvd. The victim advised a subject, later identified as Christopher Owen, approached his vehicle as he was reversing from his parking slot. Owen, who was riding a skateboard at the time, dismounted his board, approached the driver’s side window, and told the victim to get out of his car claiming the vehicle belong to him. The victim refused and as he drove away, Owen used his skateboard and struck the vehicle multiple times causing visible damage. The victim called the Petaluma Police Department to report the incident. A short time later several officers responded to the area and located Owen within close proximately of where the initial incident occurred. The victim responded back to the scene and positively identified Owen as the subject who attempted to take and damaged his vehicle. Owen was taken into custody without further incident. Owen was later booked in the Main Adult Detention Facility for Attempted Carjacking (664/215(a) PC) and Felony Vandalism (594(b)(1) PC).
The Petaluma Police Department wants to thank the reporting party for their assistance in identifying Owen and helping keep the community safe.
