TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Heavy Rain Today and Tomorrow May Produce Flooding

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé reports that due to anticipated heavy rainfall today and tomorrow, many streets may be flooded and should be avoided by drivers.

Rain will continue today and tonight into tomorrow with wind gusts tomorrow of up to 36 mph. A wintry mix of rain and snow is expected to begin Tuesday night after 11 p.m. Snow accumulations of less than a half inch are possible. Rain is expected to continue until early Saturday morning.

The listed locations should be avoided by drivers due to flooding conditions or the potential for flooding.

The Department of Public Safety is coordinating responses to burglar alarms, flooding conditions, and other weather-related incidents through the combined use of Police, Fire, and Office of Emergency Management Personnel. Special attention should be given to unsecured outdoor furniture, awnings, refuse, and building materials. For fire safety, please use flashlights instead of candles should you lose electricity due to this weather event. #newarknj #publicsafety #police #community #partnership #newjersey #cops #traffic #flooding #weather
