Collaboration between the Camarillo Police Department and the Thousand Oaks Police Department led to the arrest of a Whittier resident for residential burglary, vehicle burglaries and fraudulent use of access cards. An investigation began in the beginning of February 2023 into Jose Morales being involved in a residential burglary that occurred in the city of Camarillo. Additional follow-up and investigative resources were used to confirm Jose Morales as the suspect that committed the residential burglary. Additional follow-up was conducted, and Jose Morales was identified as the suspect in three additional vehicle burglaries. Jose Morales used the victim’s credit cards from the vehicle burglaries to buy goods at local establishments. Detectives with the Camarillo and Thousand Oaks Police Departments Detective Bureaus worked together and learned that Jose Morales had also committed two vehicle burglaries in Oak Park, Ca. On 03/03/2023, Morales was contacted at the Los Angeles Airport (LAX) getting off a flight. Morales was subsequently arrested for being in violation of California Penal Code § 459 – Residential Burglary, three counts of PC 459 – Vehicle Burglary, three counts of PC 484(g) – Fraudulent use of a access card and PC 30305 (a)(1) - Felon in Possession of Ammunition. Jose Morales was booked at Main Jail with a total bail amount of $490,000. Morales’ next court date is set for March 13, 2023. |
