EVACUATION WARNING - Third Street Area

Precipitation and run off have increased the levels water, and are expected to increase more in the Third Street Area. Residents along the following areas should be prepared to evacuate and move to higher ground. If possible, consider moving prior to conditions worsening. The Eureka County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with Eureka County Emergency Management is issuing an EVACUATION WARNING for the low-lying areas of the following zones:

Desert Street

3rd Street from El Centro to Desert Street

El Paso Street

El Dorado Street between El Centro and El Paso

El Rancho between El Centro and El Paso

El Gato between El Centro and El Paso

4th Street between El Centro and El Paso

These areas have been identified as the highest threat to flood, however flooding could take place in areas outside of these identified zones. The Eureka County Sheriff’s Office and Eureka County Emergency Management recommends residents remain mindful of their surroundings and their proximity to potentially flooded areas.

The water we are experiencing is unprecedented and unpredictable on where it is coming from, and how fast it is flowing. We are suggesting you be aware of your emergency access and egress. 

If we need to order an Evacuation, We have designated the Evacuation Shelter at the Eureka “Old Elementary Gym”, located on Adams Street in Eureka. There will be minimal mattress’ available, so please bring Blankets, Pillows, and essential medical items only. If you have Cot’s, Bed Rolls, Sleeping bags, etc, they are recommended.  No On-Site Shower Facilities are available.

If we need to order an Evacuation, We have designated the Animal Evacuation Area as the Eureka County Fairgrounds, located at 1051 US 50.
