SUBJECT: Suspect in Theft Identified and Arrested

LOCATION: Seaview Jeep in Ocean Township           
 
ACCUSED: Shawn M. Alston 47 year old male of Neptune, NJ
 
NARRATIVE:   On March 13^th, 2023 at approximately 8:30 am officers were dispatched to Seaview Jeep for a report of a theft that had occurred.  The reporting party advised Officer Schulhafer that a vehicle, which was offered for sale had all four wheels removed sometime over the weekend.  Officer Schulhafer observed the vehicle, which was now being held up by bricks.  Officer Schulhafer was able to review the surveillance footage from the dealership which showed the suspect enter the lot, remove the wheels and leave the scene. 
     Detective Steven Walker was assigned to conduct a follow up investigation on this case and was able to obtain a license plate of the vehicle used during the theft.  The suspect was identified as Shawn M. Alston and he was located by Detective Walker along with the vehicle that was used during the commission of the crime.  Alston was placed under arrest and interviewed by Detectives.  Alston was charged with Theft and Possession of Burglars Tools.  He was released on a summons pending an initial court appearance.  The wheels were recovered by Detectives Walker and Rhein and turned over to Seaview Jeep.
