THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF THE COLORADO AVALANCHE INFORMATION CENTER. AVALANCHE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 9:00 AM THURSDAY MARCH 16 UNTIL 7 AM Friday MARCH 17

*WHAT The Avalanche Danger is HIGH (Level 4 of 5) on Thursday and Thursday night.

*WHERE Southern San Juan Mountains around Wolf Creek Pass south through Cumbres and La Manga Passes to the New Mexico border.

*WHEN In effect from 9:00 AM Thursday, March 16 until 7 AM on Friday, March 17

*IMPACTS Heavy snow has created dangerous avalanche conditions in the backcountry. Large and dangerous avalanches will be very easy to trigger. Avalanches will run naturally.

*PRECAUTION/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS Travel in backcountry avalanche terrain is not recommended on Thursday and Friday morning. Avoid travel on and under slopes steeper than about 30 degrees. You can find more detailed information at colorado.gov/avalanche Cooperstein
