Crime Alert Bulletin Covering the Week of March 6-12, 2023
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Robberies
There were three robberies during the past week.
On Thursday, 03-09-23, at approximately 7:00 p.m., in the area of Southgate Avenue and Callan Boulevard, four to five male suspects punched a victim, causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head. The suspects stole the victim’s wallet containing $100, a social security card, and a vaccination card. The victim was only able to describe one suspect as a Hispanic male.
On Friday, 03-10-23, at approximately 11:50 p.m., at the bus stop on Mission Street and Evergreen Street, a gold Toyota Camry stopped in front of two victims. A suspect exited the vehicle, showed the victims a handgun in his waistband, and said, “Give me your shit.” The suspect wanted the victim’s purse; however, the victim did not give it to the suspect. The other victim handed the suspect a cell phone. The suspect got back into the front passenger seat of the Camry, and it sped off north on Mission Street towards San Francisco. The suspect was described as a Hispanic or mixed-race Hispanic male, approximately 5’6” tall, and wearing a black ski mask, black hoodie, and black jeans. This investigation is continuing.
On Sunday, 03-12-23, at approximately 6:38 p.m., officers were dispatched to Target at Serramonte Shopping Center on a report of a suspect who pushed a Target employee. The employee stated that the suspect entered the store, selected an electric scooter, and placed it into a shopping cart. The suspect then walked to another aisle, selected other merchandise, and placed it into the bottom of the shopping cart. The suspect exited the store without paying for the items valued at approximately $700. The employee asked the suspect to return to the store; however, the suspect refused. The employee held onto the shopping cart to prevent the suspect from leaving with the stolen merchandise. The suspect proceeded to push the employee on his shoulder and then stated, “Come on man, come to the parking lot.” The suspect also slapped the employee’s hand in order to knock the employee’s cell phone out of his grip. After an officer arrived and asked to speak with the suspect, the suspect began to walk away and then ran into another store. Eventually, the suspect, a 26-year-old San Francisco resident, was located and arrested for robbery and other charges.

On Saturday, 03-11-23, between 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., a suspect entered an unlocked garage of a residence on the 100 block of Velasco Avenue and stole a wallet containing $300, three credit cards, a passport, and two CA driver’s licenses from an unlocked vehicle parked inside the garage.

Nextdoor.com
Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
