Six Arrested and One Cited at South El Monte DUI Checkpoint #SouthElMonte
South El Monte, Calif. – On Friday, March 17, 2023, Temple Station conducted a DUI checkpoint in South El Monte which resulted in six arrests and one citation. The suspects were arrested for the following charges: driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of marijuana, driving without a license and a no bail warrant, driving on a suspended license, driving without an ignition interlock device installed on his vehicle, and driving on a suspended license from a prior DUI conviction.
The DUI checkpoint was held on Santa Anita Avenue near Central Avenue. The checkpoint ran from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
