Unrelated Burglar and Squatter Caught At The Same Time 
On March 18, 2023, at about 5:30 AM, Officers responded to reports of a Burglary at Papa Johns Pizza located at 2202 Tapo Street. A security guard was patrolling the area when he noticed the front window was broken. Officers arrived on scene and located 61-year-old Sheila Williamson, from Sim Valley, inside. Further investigation, revealed Sheila used a metal table in the front of the closed business to smash the window. Once inside, she threw cleaning chemicals throughout the store. Officers located Shelia hiding inside a bathroom. Shelia was arrested for 459 PC – Burglary.
While Officers were responding to the Burglary investigation, they observed 52-year-old James Schmidt, from Simi Valley, exiting the rear of a nearby business in the same building. James was detained and it was determined he had broken into a vacant business where he had been living unlawfully. James was arrested for 647(e) PC – Squatting.
Ultimately, the two incidents were determined to be unrelated. Both Shelia and James were booked at Ventura County jail for the above crimes.
