Yesterday, while out on patrol, SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN’S elite Cobra Unit was in the area of the Woods Hotel when they observed a man suspiciously running back into his room after sighting them.   Members of the elite team knocked on the door to speak to the man and made observations that led them to obtain a search warrant for his room.   

After searching the room, Deputies discovered that the suspect identified as Jared Gipson was armed with a semi-automatic pistol which he should not have had as a convicted felon. Cobra members also found evidence that he was dealing from that location.   Gipson was taken into custody and is now at the county jail.

SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN’S mission is to remove as many suspects involved in illegal activities who tote firearms from our community as possible to cut down on gun violence.  59 guns have already been taken out of the hands of criminals in Sheriff Allen’s first 60 days in office.  The labor is just beginning to bear the fruits of safety for Clayton County!
