Homicide Detectives Make Arrest in 2022 Homicide Investigation.
Homicide Detectives arrested 39-year-old, Oluwaseun Adelayo for his alleged role in the death of 46-year-old David Oliver Jr.
On Tuesday, February 22, 2022, just before 06:00 a.m., IMPD East District officers were dispatched to the 400 block of N. Oakland Avenue reference a welfare check. Officers arrived and located an adult male, later identified as David Oliver Jr., who sustained injuries consistent with trauma inside the residence. Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) arrived and pronounced Oliver Jr. deceased.
IMPD Homicide Detectives responded to the scene to begin the investigation. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to identify and collect potential forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner's Office assisted and determined the cause of death to be a homicide
The investigation continued and homicide detectives were able to identify Oluwaseun Adelayo as the suspect. A warrant was issued for Adelayo arrest on March 17, 2023, and later that same day he was arrested for murder. It should be noted that Mr. Adelayo was being held on unrelated charges when he was arrested for murder.
The Marion County Prosecutors Office will review the case and make a final charging decision.
