Advisory

Storm Alert Update as of March 21, 2023 at 8:00 am

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ADVISORY

Rain is expected today, Tuesday, March 21, 2023. Given the saturated soil and recent rains, we encourage the community to continue to be aware of their surroundings.

A Wind Advisory is in effect from 7 AM to 9 PM Tuesday, March 21. Gusts could be as high as 50 mph. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and power outages may result.

The Town of Los Altos Hills proclaimed an emergency as of March 9th and activated its Emergency Operations Center on March 15th. Staff across the Town are working around the clock, monitoring weather conditions to ensure a safe and swift response.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Downed trees and branches, potentially blocking roads or damaging property
  • Power outages are likely
  • Flooding, especially in areas with poor drainage
  • Ponding of water in roadways
WHO TO CALL:
  • Report issues to the Town promptly. 650-941-7222 during regular business hours (Monday - Thursday 9 to 5)
  • AFTER office hours, please contact Santa Clara County Communications at 408-299-3233
  • Report Non-Emergency issues to Sheriff - 408-299-2311
  • For power outages, electrical problems, or downed electrical lines, call PG&E at 1-800-743-5000.
  • Power outages are likely. If you spot a downed power line or a tree down into a power line, please call 9-1-1 to report it.
  • Only call 9-1-1 in emergencies. Do NOT call 9-1-1 unless there is an imminent threat to life or another serious emergency. Unnecessary 9-1-1 calls detract from our ability to promptly dispatch first responders to legitimate emergencies.
POWER OUTAGE

In the event of a power outage:
  1. Do not call 911 to report a power outage or to ask when power will be restored. These lines need to remain open for life-threatening emergencies only.
  2. While driving, treat intersections with no power as a four-way stop.

PG&E Contact Information:

  2. Contact PG&E’s outage information line at 1 (800) 743-5002
  3. Log-into customer accounts through www.pge.com and sign up to receive PG&E alerts and notifications via email, text, or phone.
ROAD CLOSURES

If roads are closed, do not move or drive through the barricades; these barricades are blocking roads with downed lines (possibly live wires) and trees.
